No pressure, your skin is supposed to be flawless on your wedding day. Reality check, stress leading up to a big event causes acne. Working out extra does not make skin issues any easier, make sure to shower as soon as possible to avoid flare ups! Be sure to wash your face at night and in the morning, this seems basic but it really changed my skin. Here is what worked for me leading up to the wedding and in general my skin routine.
Laniege: Water Sleeping Mask-This super hydrating mask is perfect for dry winter skin. I use 2-3 times a week for 30-60 minutes while watching a Bravo show. You can wear it overnight as advertised too.
Clinique: Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel- My daily, must-have moisturizer. Pro-tip is to put it on right after showering to lock in maximum moisture. Also, applying it right before foundation allows it to act as a primer.
Kate Somerville: Exfolikate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment-I use this in the shower once or twice a week to get rid of dead skin. It is gentle yet effective enough to give skin a glow. I purchase the travel size so it doesn’t dry out plus easy packing for when you need it on a trip.
Murad: Time Release Acne Cleanser- First of all this cleanser is a bit pricey, it does last me 4-6 months though. I have been using for 4 years now! The anti-aging x acne formula is perfect for my 29 year old skin that needs problem solving for both.
Beauty Bio: Eye Masks-Puffy eye and dark circles are my worst enemy, especially with year round allergies. These jelly patches are easy to wear while doing chores. Love how they help my under-eyes wake-up!
Dr. Jart: Water Replenishment Mask-Excellent for traveling or weekend trips away. I brought a few of these on our honeymoon and they were perfect for adding some moisture back to my travel-dry skin. Also, a great stocking stuffer for any beauty buff.
Avene Retrinal .1-My Dermatologist suggested starting a retinol to keep away fine lines. She said this is one of the most beneficial things you can do for your skin! Staying out of the sun and wearing spf is the other recommendation. This product can be drying so I only use it twice a week but you can work up to using it every other night if your skin tolerates it.
Botox-I am 29, a few wrinkles have been starting to appear on my forehead especially above my eye brows. Full disclosure, I had many preconceived notions about Botox plus a fear of needles. All that being said, the clinician listened to my fears of looking “frozen” and gave me minimal amounts while still achieving a smooth look. This is not for everyone, but if you are curious and an Omaha local, Andy at Dreams Medspa was so patient and professional! Always make a decision that is right for you.
Hydrafacial-This is the second time I’ve tried this treatment. I wanted my skin to be glowing for my wedding day. This painless facial infuses extra moisture and exfoliates. The exfoliating did make my skin breakout a tiny bit the week after so leave enough time before your event for skin to correct. I felt like my face was hydrated and dewy the day of my wedding!
Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! We have an exciting holiday project to share coming up!
