Happy Holidays to everyone!! We had a little get together the other week at our home so we thought we would share our holiday decor and hosting tips. This “Miseltoe-N-Margaritas” sweater couldn’t have been more appropriate! Also, I plan on living in these Spanx faux leather leggings for the rest of winter. They are both comfortable and a statement. Rufus, our yellow lab, is always the life of the party…as you can tell!
Decorate Early: Every year I can’t wait to decorate the tree…may have been done in November. It allows us to really enjoy the season and not worry about throwing decorations up in a scurry when friends are headed over. Most of the tree decorations are from Michael’s and Hobby Lobby. I was smitten with these yellow lab ornaments from Pottery Barn that look like Rufus! The checkered ribbon is from Shop Hello Holidays (thanks to @emilyanngemma for sharing).
Snack Options: When creating a spread for guests we like to have something sweet and savory. This year we were thrilled to order a cake from Omaha local, The Confectionist. She made our wedding cake and we are so obsessed with her Red Velvet! Our friends had nothing but exceptional things to say about it as well. As for savory, shrimp cocktail makes for a nice touch to any party while providing some substance for snacking. Thanks to Hy-vee for donating a platter of southwest seasoned shrimp. Our guests ate them so fast!
Batch Drink/Spicy Skinny Margs: By making a large batch drink ahead of time, it allows you to host rather than act as a constant bartender. Our batch drink was a twist on my Spicy Skinny Margarita’s found on this post HERE. I added a little watermelon juice for a new version, but I must say I like the original version best!
Avoid Dishes: When guests are grazing and carrying on, the last thing you want to worry about is loading the dish washer and rinsing glasses. These custom monogram cocktail cups from Emily McCarthy were perfection. I love how they turned out and the option for reuse! Festive paper-ware from Target made for easy clean-up!
Do you have any fail safe hosting tips?! Please share, we are always excited to hear other’s tricks. Stay turned for upcoming holiday festivities! We have a Midwest road-trip coming up for our families, excited and nervous that everything will fit in the car.
